Parent Helper Sign-Ups
In accordance with Parent Consent to Policy item number 6, parents are required to work in every class their students are attending each semester. Although students come to Star Academics classes for instruction, parents are ultimately responsible for their students' achievement. Being a helper in the classroom provides parents with first-hand information on classroom instruction and activities, while allowing parents to observe student behavior, participation, and the expectations of the instructor.
- Parents are scheduled at the beginning of each semester.
- Parents are required to work a maximum of two times a semester in a one day per week class, and a maximum of three times a semester in a two day per week class.
- The parent's requested dates could change based on final class enrollment numbers. This is to ensure balanced representation for each family.
- Parents are beneficial to instructors by helping grade papers, logging scores on the score sheets, taking attendance, and distributing handouts.
- The Parent Helper Schedule is posted on the website by the third week of classes.
- A $20.00 fee per class period will be charged when a parent fails to help at their scheduled time.
- If a conflict arises with a scheduled parent helper date, it is the parent's responsibility to find a substitute parent helper and to inform the Site Coordinator of any changes to the schedule.
