Classically Informed

Torrey Academy draws on the great minds of the Christian tradition for class curriculum and teaching methods. Students read Great Books and participate in tutor-led discussions, helping them to wrestle with and think critically about the ideas that have shaped the Christian worldview for over two thousand years.

Online Torrey Academy Classes:

The benefits:

• Experience a "classroom-like" setting in your own home
• Identical to onsite classes with discussions and grading done online
• Interact "live" with your tutor & peers
• Online class times are in Pacific Standard Time/Pacific Daylight Time depending on time of year
• Discussions occur in a tutor-moderated "audio class" at regular weekly times and participation is required and constitutes a significant portion of the student's final score.
• Students may also participate in asynchronous discussions via threaded email conferencing at any time.
• Please Note: Please be advised that during online classes we may occasionally have interested students and/or parents monitoring the class.

Online Classes:

Important Dates

July 24th: Change/Drop fees begin

August 10th: Fall 2009 Parent Helper Sign-ups available online for families paid-in-full.

August 13, 2009: Mandatory Torrey Academy Orientation on the Biola University campus; check-in begins at 6:15 p.m.

September 1st: Last day to register for fall 2009.

September 8th - 11th: Late registrations for classes will be accepted on an individual basis at the Regional Site Orientations. This does not include Logic, The Inklings, Foundations of American Thought, Faith of Our Fathers and Shakespeare.
