Torrey Academy Computer Requirements

Minimum Requirements for All Students

The following minimum specifications are required for all Torrey Academy students, whether participating in online or onsite classes:

Hardware

• PC computer running Windows 98, ME, XP, Vista, or higher
  OR Macintosh running OS X 10.2 or higher
• Computer speakers or headphones
• Printer
• CD-ROM drive

Software

• Microsoft Word 98 or newer
• Firefox
• Adobe Flash Player
• FirstClass Installation & Instructions
• MP3 player: (iTunes or Windows Media Player)
• Adobe Acrobat Reader

Network

• Internet connection
• Parent e-mail account

Skills

• Basic word processing and typing skills

Additional Requirements for Online Class Students

The following specifications are required, above and beyond the requirements listed above, for all students participating in the online classes. (It is also recommended for students participating in on-site classroom settings):

Hardware

• A unique computer for each student taking online classes
  (Two siblings may not share a computer for the same class)
• 800 MHz processor or better
• 256 MB RAM or better
• Computer compatible microphone and headphone (not computer speakers)
  OR Headset with built-in microphone

Software

• Adobe Connect Tutorial

Network

• FiOS, DSL, or Cable Internet Connection
• Unique email account for each student, separate from parent email

Skills

• Basic word processing and typing skills

Please note that fulfilling the above requirements does not guarantee that your computer will be able to smoothly run all the required programs.
