“Turn Your Campus”
Equips Young Christians to Serve Campus and Community
A record number of attendees experienced this year's Turn Your Campus event on January 31, 2009. Junior high and high school students were challenged to take each opportunity that Jesus calls them into in order to extend His Kingdom. Nearly 1,200 students, youth workers and educators came to this annual one-day student workshop.
“This year’s event was by far the largest and most diverse, bringing together people from across racial and denominational lines,” said Mike Brimmage, manager of Biola Youth Ministry Outreach.

Turn Your Campus 2009, “Dangerous Opportunities,” was the fifteenth annual event sponsored by Biola Youth Ministry Outreach in partnership with Southern California Youth for Christ. The conference program was diverse with Biola Youth worship band, The Fragrance, recording artists DJ Promote, Propaganda, Odd Thomas, and a dance ministry team from Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA, Inrhythmwithhim.
This year’s speaker, Albert Tate, a pastor of Lake Avenue Congregational Church, encouraged students to impact their school campuses and their world with the message of hope in Christ, according to Brimmage.
The one-day event was designed for the next generation and included workshops created to better equip students to minister to their friends. The thought-provoking schedule included over 30 workshops for students to choose from, such as “Living Real in a Real Fake World”, “Icons, Avatars and Profile Pictures: Your witness on and off the web”, and “Jr. High Dudes and Sex.” Sessions for youth workers and educators were offered as well.
“Students were challenged to take the dangerous opportunities that Jesus would call them into in order to extend His Kingdom and to bring His love to those who are hurting and in need,” said Brimmage.
Additional ministry partners in the event included Urban Youth Workers Institute, Christian Educators Association International, xtreme Missions, International Youth Initiative, and National Network of Youth Ministries.
