Audition Information

Auditions are required for those desiring a lead role.
Please call the BYT office at (562) 906-4574 to make an audition reservation.

• Program open to all students ages 14-18
• Lead roles open to students ages 14-18
• Audition reservations must be prearranged with the BYT office.

Audition Notes

What to bring:

• Come prepared to sing 30-40 seconds of a song that "shows off your voice."
• Bring the piano music with you and have the section you will be singing clearly marked.
  Biola Youth Theatre will provide an accompanist for you.
• Food or snack and plenty of water.

What NOT to bring:

• Do not choose a song from Wicked or this show.
• You may not sing to a tape or any other accompaniment.
• Do not wear a shirt that shows your midriff when your hands are lifted over your head.

What to wear:

• Shoes- Black jazz shoes are best. Closed toe/heel tennis shoes are acceptable for the audition.
• Pants- Loose fitting jazz pants or sweat pants. Pants must have an elastic or drawstring waist. Girls, capri jazz pants are acceptable.
• Shirts- Loose fitting t-shirt that has sleeves and the bottom of the t-shirt reaches the hips.
• Shorts- Long, loose fitting shorts may be worn. Girls must wear tights underneath.
• Undergarments- Appropriate undergarments must be worn.
  --Boys: Jockey shorts or tighter fitting undergarments versus boxer shorts are required.
  --Girls: Sports bra and/or leotard.
• Hair-
  --Girls: Pulled back and off the face.
  --Boys: Off the face-use hairspray if necessary.
